Sounds odd, right? Painting with pastels. The discipline of working with soft pastels is generally referred to as painting depending on the nature of the artwork, materials and techniques used. Pastels are a versatile medium offering scope for representational realism to loose impressionism through to absolute abstraction. 

As a BYO studio for our weekly classes, you will need to get your own materials kit. Having your own materials means you can progress faster by continuing with practice at home.

Depending on the style of artwork and subject matter that appeals to you, there are variations in the form of soft pastels you will use: pastel sticks; pan pastels; and pastel pencils (or any combination).
